It features two lift cages, both with wooden interiors, and seats up to 20 passengers. Today, this lift has become a tourist attraction in Lisbon, and is the only vertical lift in Lisbon's urban lift.
As you ascend, each stop showcases Lisbon's charming streets and stunning views. The designer was Portuguese Raul Mesnier du Ponsard, a student of the famous French architect Gustave Eiffel.
The elevator was also converted from steam power to electricity in 1907 and was named a National Historic Monument in 2002.
